Unbeaten Mexico undertake underdogs Guatemala in the second quarter final of the Gold Cup in early stages Sunday morning, using the winner facing either Costa Rica or Honduras in the semis.
Mexico have looked like a team on the mission so far within the Gold Cup, and have progressed to the knockout stages of the tournament without breaking stride, winning the 3 of their group games. All of the the 3 game was an impressive 4-1 conquer Costa Rica, with Deportivo winger Andres Guardado getting two of his sides goals. Jose Manuel de la Torre’s side have scored 14 goals so far within their three game and only conceded one.
Guatemala qualified from Group B despite finishing third in the group. Ever Hugo Almeida’s side drew 0-0 with Honduras and beat lowly Grenada 4-0 to qualify, but go into the game as underdogs. The side had four different goalscorers against Grenada, with two goals apiece coming either side of the half-time break.
